I currently have 44 pre-1980 films on my IMDb watchlist. A rough Top 10, listed chronologically: The Story of the Last Chrysanthemum [1939] Taira Clan Saga [1955] Death By Hanging [1968] Man Without A Map [1968] Profound Desires of the Gods [1968] Funeral Parade of Roses [1969] Mandara [1971] Out 1: Spectre [1972] Pastoral Hide and Seek [1974] Jeanne Dielman, 23 Commerce Quay, 1080 Brussels [1975] Hi there Fox in the Snow I was surprised to see Man Without A Map mentioned in your list , I listed it in my "what did you watch" post this week. Shintarô Katsu a highlight as always, not giving any more away I noticed also a few excellent Art Theatre Guild Tittles, I did not do any reviews this week on the watch thread, but did write a rave on the ATG. Akio Jissôji's Buddhist trilogy Mujō, Mandara , and Uta is profoundly philosophical art-house cinema, however I did write these two words for Mandara on the weekly watch thread 2 weeks ago "Deeply Disturbing" Happy Japanese Classic Viewing to you...
