Just watched episode 9 of Season 5 last night. **spoilers below if you haven’t seen it** I’ve been rather lukewarm on Bishop Heahmund thus far...but his teaming up with Lagertha makes me like him a bit more. While I do like the two of them together (and I think they have chemistry), I still can’t entirely trust JRM’s character and I certainly hope he doesn’t go backstabby on Lagertha. I liked the part where she asked him if he wanted to sin again. And no one blows out candles as sexily as Lagertha does. Screw Rollo for not siding with Lagertha (didn’t he used to have a thing for her?) and only insisting that Ivar spare Bjorn. I liked the scene near the end showing Heahmund kneeling before Lagertha and receiving the sword which was intercut with the scenes of Alfred receiving his captor as he was crowned King and Floki dropping to his knees as his Thor temple went up in flames. I liked the scenes with Judith (I’m glad she’s getting more to do – plus we got to see her non-ear! Which is a change, since it’s usually covered up with a side 'do). That was some allergic reaction Æthelwulf had to that bug. He kind of resembled the alien character played by Vincent D’Onofrio in Men in Black when he pulls his face/skin back, I thought. Of course Flokiland went to crap in no time - given the way he was running the place. He’s still doing jack all to help build the place, I see. And those poor sacrificed animals! That’s one of my least favourite aspects of this show, whenever they do that. Here’s hoping Margrethe doesn’t make it out of the next episode alive. She’s right up there as one of the worst characters this show has ever created (alongside Ragnar’s drug dealer from the first half of Season 4, Rollo’s annoying French wife and that loathsome little gnome of King Haraldson’s back in Season 1).
