I think rooting interest is kind of it’s own personal demon. Here in Pittsburgh it’s pretty split because whilst Steeler fans hate the Patriots As much as anyone, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia has its own interstate rivalry that is most prominent in hockey but exists in just about any facet of life. So people in my town are kind of split on who they’re rooting for.

Sidney Crosby is the most hated athlete in Philly bar none. That said - when the Flyers suck - I love it when the Pens win the Cup.

Why? How much fun would it be if they came in here the next year if they sucked too? Not much of a rivalry or anything to get pumped up over.

When Crosby comes into town and the arena is whipped into a frenzy like old school Jagr with his Mullet and the Pens - it's a blast!
