Why would they say that when it was explicitly stated in the novelization? I care what they bothered to put in the movie, not some novel. Indeed, it should have been included in the movie if we were supposed to believe it was a legitimate part of the movie. It is not in the movie. At all. I'd be interested to know if adding it to the novel was a retcon, but I am not familiar with the print schedule, nor am I interested in doing the required research. When I read it in the novel, it felt like a retcon.
