On top of that, James Bond is being decried as a sexist character in the British press, with claims that he "no longer fits the archetype of a hero". Sexist? No shit! An essential staple of the character is his misogynist nature, that he views women as disposable pleasures. Why is this suddenly news, and more importantly, what does it have to do with the quality of the films and their ability to entertain? Bad news for the UK. James Bond is one of the few heroes they have and easily the most popular and recognized world wide and now he is being emasculated. At least they still have Doctor who though. |
