I have not read Needful Things, but it's a pretty weak movie, and one of the writers on the show, Marc Bernardin (not sure how big his influence is on the show itself) called that book 'a piece of shit' on his podcast, but also noted that the main character of that book is essentially the main character of their show.
I'm wondering if how much Castle Rock will focus on just the stories that take place their, and how much they are going to reach out to whatever else they can get the rights to. The trailer already shows Shawshank as the prison that exists in this world, so there are certainly allusions to other stories.
