No one can be sure of either condition. They could only logically deduce which is more likely given the evidence (or lack thereof) in hand. That is true, but there are people who claim they are sure. Well, they may be “sure” in as much as they have convinced themselves of what is “true” in spite of the evidence. People are often “sure” of a lot of things that turn out to be wrong in the end. Being sure is a matter of perception and confidence in what you believe, not necessarily what is true in reality.
