I happen to love Ballard's character - he handled the whole thing remarkably well in my eyes. He was completely honest, professional, and even mentioned that he was more concerned with the Edwin Jackson tragedy than the Super Bowl on Sunday. I'd hate to think how Grigsen would have handled it.

The rivalry comment was just a fun piece of banter for the fans. I don't think it's controversial to suggest that Indy and the Pats have a rivalry which is even more bitter now.
