It was odd because in Civil War they were supposed to be broken up and then in Spider-man Homecoming they were apparently back together and ok again without explanation. I felt it was more implied they were taking a break and it was a recent thing given she was meant to be at the new tech thing Tony was at, the explanation as to the why is obvious though as Homecoming shows us Tony putting Iron Man on the back burner and having signed the accords and stuff, basically they break up because despite his promise he didn't let up on being Iron Man, but then he does to the point instead of dealing with smaller things himself he actually informs the FBI and such, so him and Pepper being back together makes sense because he actually did what he couldn't before, he even says in CW he was hoping the accords would help smooth things over with Pepper which clearly worked. |
