That's my big thing about getting into a show. I need one character, within the first two episodes of a show, whom I would care if something bad happened to them. I've got four of those in BLACK LIGHTNING, so it works for me. Granted, I also prefer NCIS: NO to the other two, CSI: NY was always my favorite of the three, and I still watch SCARECROW & MRS.KING/MURDER SHE WROTE/REMINGTON STEEL/LARAMIE reruns, so I'm well aware I'm not the average viewer and what I like isn't what's popular, most of the time.
I also like superhero shows. I was an avid watcher of AGENT CARTER, I'm an on/off watcher of SUPERGIRL, I've seen a few eps of that LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (not my cup of tea, but an interesting show with a couple of my favorite actors), and I always liked the Dean Cain-era SUPERMAN show. Haven't gotten into the Marvel ones on Netflix though, mostly cause my internet won't support Netflix. But I hear good things from people I know who watch them, especially DAREDEVIL. I'm sorry you find BLACK LIGHTNING to have laughable acting, poor writing, etc. I suppose we just disagree on those points. The only issue I've had has been the costumes, but compared to the cool X-MEN (2000) ones or the leather and gleaming metal of THOR, a TV show-budget on a CW channel show probably just can't compare, so I can overlook it easily. Plus, I'm a sucker for father/daughter stuff and for good men who are just trying to save one little space (like Batman with Gotham, Daredevil with Hell's Kitchen, etc.)
