Have you seen the two tv movies?
The Vampire was quite creepy--one thing the Kolchak series did smartly was often they knew the less they showed of the monster, the better--in the case of the Vampire keeping her silent was a smart move--just hearing her snarl and hiss was very effective.
Same with the Werewolf--it looked terrible but they kept it hidden well much of the time. You can hear music in that episode that reminds one of JAWS, months before the movie came out.
I think Zombie, Spanish Moss and Horror in the Heights are the best, but I also like Demon in Lace (another effectively creepy monster-and the woman laughing was really a creepy bit). And in the Sentry-I thought the shots of the creature slapping the lights out was an effective way of hiding it-at least until the ending.
I need to rewatch more of them. I have them on VHS from way back and also dvd--but I have never seen the original versions of Firefall and the Energy Eater, only the combined tv movie version.
The Youth Killer is the one I remember least fondly-the idea of Aphrodite in modern times was just too lame an idea.
They had scripted a female Jekyll and Hyde story before it was cancelled.
