I guess they do belong a little bit more in the horror/fantasy genre but could easily fit in with the action/sci-fi ones also.
Not a fan of the series, but I do "strangely" get drawn into watching them every now and then by Kate Beckinsale.
My ratings of the ones I have seen so far:
