Apart from the Gods, there’s also the fact that the Amazons are at least thousands of years old, and live on a magical island. Does that strike you as “grounded”? You wouldn't know they were thousands of years old, seeing how naive Diana acts. It's lip service. And nothing on Themyscira comes off as magical. Diana was explicitly established as having been the only child on the island at the beginning of the film. Her naivety can easily be explained away by the fact that she had lived a sheltered life, with no connection to the outside world. Also, the fact that she doesn’t age over the course of 100 years should be a good indication of things. Also, Themiscyra is an island that’s hidden from the rest of the world by magic. Sounds pretty magical to me. |
