I agree that it's overrated, maybe not the 'most overrated' but overrated nonetheless.
I like first two thirds of Candyman well, but it does lose its way towards the end. I wish the final act would work better, since I appreciate the ambition of making a it increasingly delirious instead of going for some kind of cheap, obvious explanation. However it just doesn't work that well as far as visual storytelling goes.
I think that Candyman got exceedingly good review at the time at least in part ecause it was released during the 90s dry season of horror genre.
