From my experiences, most university professors appear to assume that students are fans of, or have at least watched the Harry Potter films, or read the books. I have done neither, as I'm not into the premise of that series, and I can't relate to some of J. K. Rowling's world views, personally. I actually prefer the Twilight series to Harry Potter, although I'm not really a fan. I thought those movies were OK, and not as bad as so many have stated them to be, but I haven't read the books.
