The last shot of CITY LIGHTS. The Tramp is in love with a blind flower girl who thinks he's a wealthy man. She gets her sight back and when she sees him for the first time she realizes he is, in fact, a Tramp. He doesn't know what she's going to think of him and the last shot is his face in anticipation of what will come next. It's love, shame, hope and fear all rolled into one look and it still stands as one of the great endings in film history.
