It was fun to be scared when I was a kid and I did get scared, but that was born out of childish insecurity and lack of understanding. A mature adult rational mind, should know that any scares are just made out of film editing, sound and special effects. Suspense can be scary, but that's still not real and is only lasting for the time of involvement or attention. Shock effects can make people jump, but is that scary in the true sense of the word?
Any grown adult that does claim to get scared by horror films or won't watch them because they get scared, must have not outgrown their childhood insecurity issues, or are dealing with issues of preciousness.
