Around 1966: I got a three record set of Henry Mancini playing all of the Best Song winners up to The Song from May Poppins which I am not sure how to spell. I still don't understand how "Sweet Leilani" could win over "They Can't atake That Away From Me" or even "That Old Feeling."
Bit of song trivia: Ira Gershwin wrote the lyrics for three Ocar nominated songs and the titles all had the word "away" in them.
I've also been wondering about "Sweet Leilani", and if it could have something to do with Bing Crosby's enormous polularity at the time as a recording artist, and that sheet music stood for 50% of the music selling market, and it maybe was easy to play at home on piano or guitars.
