I hadn’t even heard of Anthony Adverse, Flynn (and I’ve got a bit of a crush on the lovely Anita Louise); thanks for letting me know! A huge stretch, but I wonder—have you ever heard of a swashbuckler in which the villain hypnotizes the heroine and then throws the hero off a tower, where the hero is rescued by gypsies? Someone was looking for it on the Classic Horror boards; I posted about it in the INTK board here, unfortunately to no avail. I know, a long shot, but it seemed vaguely similar to Anthony Adverse (though it’s not it). I'm sorry, that doesn't ring a bell. With that many definitive keywords, though, it seems like the field of films could be narrowed considerably using Imdb's keyword search. I gather nothing panned out. As for Anthony Adverse, it's not a great film overall, but I do think many of the parts are good. They just don't all work together. I know it because I've studied the score. Big Korngold fan here.
