That was basically how it was done when they filmed it back in 1978. That wasn't Nick Castle getting shot and falling off the balcony. That was a stunt double. As for character of Michael Myers, he's a paranormal force of pure evil. He doesn't age.
Right... but he needs to look like he hasn't aged. He can't be hunched over or overweight or walk like he just got his hip replaced.
