It just appeals to me more to have different countries have a chance to host the World Cup. It makes the whole thing more unique. Soccer is a global sport and there are many, many nations who've waited a long time for their chance to host this thing. In this proposed US/Canada/Mexico Cup, the US would host the vast majority of games anyway. What's the point? The US held the tournament in 1994, there are so many other options to explore in the spirit of diversity, a celebration of soccer's global appeal. If we're talking about how the US has the best capabilities to host, well shit, why don't we just give it to them every single time? The World Cup isn't about that. That is how I feel too. I was probably the only one on the old boards that actually liked when Qatar got the World Cup - of course that was before it became clear that they were using slave labour to build the stadiums, and that their promises of a revolutionary cooling technology that would allow the tournament to take place in June/July were bullshit.
