A true horror classic. Fun fact, this was the very first horror movie that I ever witnessed onscreen. I caught it on TV and thought I could handle it because at the time I was scared to even watch a horror film. Such a memory that was. I've only seen this and the 2013 remake with Chloë Grace Moretz, which was pretty average at best. It was basically a complete rehash and maybe it's because I had nostalgia for the original, but it just didn't have that spirit. However, Julianne Moore was pretty good as the mother, and Moretz was fine as Carrie herself, even if she seemed too attractive for the role. It's definitely one of the first horror movies that made an impression on me, staying up to watch it on late night tv, totally hooked from the first to last second. And the book was a major event in my horror literature life.
