I haven't sen all the movies nominated but we all know Get Out will win. It's a solid genre movie but unremarkable and honestly very derivative. It's not even the best horror movie from last year but it allows white liberals that NEVER interact with anyone swarthy to suck each others dicks over how "enlightened they are. The smugness and self congratulating over Get Out winning will allow white libs to keep scary non whites far far far away from the libs families with nary a feeling of guilt or hypocrisy for at least a decade. And those are the types of people Get Out was making fun of. Sadly most critics missed that entirely as did many viewers. After I watched it I was puzzled over why ZERO critics mentioned that white liberals were satirized to perfection and made to look quite clueless. Then I realized many white liberals are actually so clueless the idea that they might not be seen as saviors to all us poor swarthy folks never occurs to them. Perhaps if more of them actually had conversations with non whites the truth would come crashing down over their heads. At this point I don't think Jordan Peele would admit it he was throwing shade (albeit good natured shade) on white folks since the movie is the most important film of all time. JP can't admit he thought he was making a horror comedy when the people that were the objects of the comedy have branded him a genius auteur. I really can't blame him but it's still a bit disappointing. |
