The Shape of Water (my vote) will be the truly bold choice, but in the plus-5 era, del Toro will probably get best director while another movie wins. Yes, and if a film with a horror theme undercurrent is to win, Shape would take the pip over Get Out any day. Get Out is a mediocrity and compared to the last film with a horror\thriller theme that won, Silence Of The Lambs-91', Get Out doesn't even come close. Personally, I would like to see Call Me By Your Name win, but I think that is too much of a long shot. Also, a bland gay and black themed movie won picture last year. I have an feeling that Dunkirk may walk off with either picture, director or both. |
