In retrospect, I wish that I knew Bill Gaines.
We might have been good friends, as we shared common interests: a passion for movies during Hollywood's Golden Age, a love of Shakespeare, and an affection for NYC.
Granted, I would have not approved of his homophobia and his disdain of women's rights (as depicted in a number of MAD stories), but I do believe we still could have become friends.
