I didn't realize that it was badly received...
I've always enjoyed disaster films, and since this was combined with an outer space theme, I figured it couldn't be too bad... I picked this up off the shelves at Walmart, bought it, and gave it a watch.
I found the special effects to be better than many of the films that I have seen that are usually made for the genre, and found the plot to be quite interesting.
Certainly not a masterpiece, but it is a film I'll watch again.
