I was not surprised as looking around online almost everyone, or the vast majority at the least, agreed that The Shape of Water or Three Billboards was going to win Best Picture. only way it would have been a legit surprise is if something else won besides those two.

It's not surprising as that's liberals for you as they tend to be backwards from how God see's things in many moral areas (i.e. homosexuality/abortion/euthanasia etc). but since most don't believe in God they don't think there is no objective right and wrong and that morality is subjective etc.
but once you start basing morality around subjectivity it's basically a matter of time before it's in the gutter because us humans have a fallen nature after the whole Adam/Eve thing from the Bible. so us humans no longer see things properly and can find bad things appealing even though not everything appealing is good.
but being morality drops off a little here and there many don't even see the decline and even call it "progress" (like with this rush of same sex promotion that's accelerating over the last 15 years or so). where does it end for those with that liberal mindset? ; so while some laugh at the pedophile thing now, it's probably not a stretch to think it might lead there someday.
that's why I think liberals and conservatives are so far apart and basically can't stand each other nowadays because while conservatives stayed mostly the same from say 50-60 years ago or so, liberals have not and declined morally as it shows based on what they support. so naturally they will rebel against us conservatives as they see us as something that blocks their "progress" (i.e. moral decline).

But look at it this way... something like that would have never been supported/praised in a movie even by liberals not all that long ago. clearly something is changing with their mindset and it's not good.
p.s. I don't think the humanoid/dog/horse matters much as the basic point is that it's not human so it's just bad if that were to be a real life scenario.

Yeah, all it's going to take is a large enough portion of the general public to start supporting it before that area is pushed. hell, look at the whole gay agenda thing being pushed heavily even though I have heard only something like 2% of the general population fits into that category and look at all of the "progress" they have made in forcing everyone to comply, or else.
but about the general age thing... you can only lower it so far before it gets to WTF level. but I have a feeling there are probably more people out there than we like to think that would support pedophile stuff or borderline that range already.
because while right now things are generally 18+ as a adult and already it seems that 'age of consent' thing (like something around 16-17 depending on state(?) (I don't know details as I am not a lawyer as all I know only guaranteed way to be safe is stick to 18+)) is pushing it now as too much further and your going to start getting into child ranges as, while I don't know about everyone else but I definitely could not support anything under 15 at the VERY least (because anything under this is pretty much pedophile level or close enough) although I would pretty much leave things as they are with the whole 18+ thing otherwise if you start lowing that 18+ standard to say 16-17 they might lower the age of consent even lower than the current 16-17 thing and were does it end(?).
another thing I wonder about on what's technically the law is that say the age of consent is 16 years old (even though the 18+ thing is only way to be guaranteed to be in the clear legally it seems). does that mean that if a 16 year old has sex with a 15 year old that the 16 year old could be in major legal trouble? ; because in a case like this it does not seem like it would be a big deal because they are pretty much the same age but if that situation would not garner any legal trouble then since that was in the clear what would say a 18-19 year old being with a 15 year old do from a legal standpoint(?). because in general... after a certain age point 5 years or so between two people is really nothing in age. but lets say that the whole 15 and 16 year old thing was allowed... I wonder where the line is drawn even in cases of really young people like these(?) because while and 15 and 16 year old being together does not seem like a big deal (as they are pretty much the same age) say that 15 year old became 14 or 13 or 12 it would start to be a big problem quickly as as 12 to 16 seems a bit WTF but a 16 to 20 year old does not seem as bad but yet might still have legal issues etc. that's why I wonder how that stuff plays out legally, like what's legal and what's not, as it seems kind of a grey area(?) if the two are similar enough in age when they are really young in their teens.

Just look at all the people who think the relationship in ‘Call Me By Your Name’ is healthy and normal.

The movie has the woman falling in love with a fantasy humanoid creature, not a dog or a horse. You'd have to be pretty uptight and somewhat stupid to think this is the next step before endorsing pedophilia.

Sadly you may be right. I've read far too many posts on just this site from people thinking it's okay for adults to have sex with kids 14 or younger to laugh at your comment.
