So strangely enough, per the doc Caddyshack: The Inside Story, the producers/writers realized that the two had no scenes together so they wrote one on the spot. The scene of Ty discovering Carl Spackler's living quarters, lots of improvisation..and they were very professional and civil to each other and had no problems, though they of course didn't socialize with each other.
