Shuri simply is extraordinary, that's all you need to know. And like Rey, a deadbeat begger, knowing extraordinary Jedi abilities with no backstory or explanation, Shuris abilities are a difficult concept to digest. Like I've said before I'm pretty easy when it comes to this stuff (so that's why I don't have a problem with it). Seeing the tech they have in the city itself leads you to believe that they have some gifted scientists. The Stealth Dome itself is better than the retro-reflector panels that SHIELD has on it's Helicarrier and Tony has on his transfer plane in Homecoming. There was still distortion on those, there wasn't any on the camouflage. Their air craft are better than the Quin-jets, W'kabi and his security forces have cloth that basically radiates a repulsor type shield. The weapons and armor used by Okoye and her soldiers is at or above Tony's. Mainly in that It's thin cloth but is tough armor. (tony has to use gold/titanium) It might not seem that way, but they were using their advanced weapons against their advanced armor. They have mag-lev auto controlled bullet trains. Basically before BP we've seen how the world is about the same as ours technology wise. Yeah there are helicarriers and quinjets, but there is also fossil fuel burning cars. Airforce one is the same as ours a standard plane. No bullet trains. Tony is the most gifted engineer the world has and his tech shows it. It's shown comically in Ironman 2 with Justin Hammer how far behind everyone else is to him. Whiplash was close second maybe. Now with us having Tony he hasn't got us close to Wakanda. Now before Ironman 1 he concentrated on weapons but dabbled in creating a better world with his techno crops or whatever he said to the reporter. After his epiphany he turned his company to make the world a better place. And in 10 years we are still far behind Wakanda. Now if you know all of that. Then that means Wakanda has had people for a long time making and building tech to get that far past the Western World. And not just the Western World but the Western World With Tony Stark. For that country to be that far ahead most people would assume they have superior education, to get superior infrastructure they had to have decades of scientist working on all of it. In the real world collaboration moves science along you are right on that, but this is the superhero world. Ultron called Vibranium the most versitle metal on the planet. When that asteroid hit Wakanda back when everyone was basically hunter gathers they probably used it for crude weapons and went from there. The metal was just like steroids for the civilization. With that level of science and tech in that country it wasn't a big stretch for me to figure the Daughter of the King had the best schooling in the best school in Wakanda. And Wakanda's worst schools would be better than our best. Combine that with a genius level intellect and a research team and you get Shuri.
