they are both good, but in a different way and for different reasons.
Original Blade Runner was something truly unique at that time. In the plot, the visuals, the idea of what future would be like, the music (oh the music), it brought things that were or felt new on the big screen. (not to those that read scifi but to those that dont read it may have introduced somewhat groundbreaking ideas and questions).
Blade Runner 2049 did no such thing. Nothing really groundbreaking. Nothing genre-changing. BUT - it was a very well made movie, that was more than decent sequel (how often does that happen), it was made with respect and love for the original (it shows), and with brains and creative minds behind and in front of the camera and its quite entertaining, a true feast for the eyes and a decent meal for the mind.
I think that for someone who has never read any Dick (or similar authors) and would see the BR 2049 first the original one would not have as much appeal tough. From todays perspective it seems quite outdated and also Deckart seems to have raped Rachel by todays standards.
but I still really really like the movie. both actually. but, as explained above, for different reasons.
