Sevilla deserved to go through after having outplayed Man Utd over two games in a row. They showed great spirit and character.
If not for David De Gea's heroics, it could have easily been a lot worse.
A pathetic display by some of the Man Utd players who looked like they had completely given up, especially after going behind 0-1 with still more than time left to get something out of it.
The opening 5-10 minutes looked promising, but soon it became far too obvious it was not gonna be an "easy" walkover as some very arrogant football "experts" said before the match, and all credits should go to the better team that night, which was Sevilla.
People were going on about United beating the likes of Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Liverpool over the last week, but if not for some dodgy referee situations and David De Gea, United could have ended up with zero points out of 9 and found themselves in a mess right now, they had luck on their side and the best keeper in the world right now.
Last night the luck had ran out and they did not look like a team who has any business being in the Champions League knock out stage.
If they had gone through into next round, I am not gonna think of how bad things could end up if Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern or Real had been drawed against Manchester United.
The focus should be on getting back on track in england, securing the second place which is far off safe and the F.A. Cup trophy is also there for the "taking", but if Mourinho fails at getting either second place or an F.A. Cup title, then it would be very hard to justify his almost two full seasons at Old Trafford.
The good old times as one of the top dogs in Champions League is still miles away right now, but I do hope last nights humiliating defeat is a brutal wake up call and that Mourinho must realize that he must change some of his tactics, not unlike how Fergie had to change his way of playing when United had their own "dark ages" between 2003-06 in the Champions League, and which later on resulted in the clubs most dominant period reaching the final 3 times in less than four years.
Not sure why all are picking on Fellaini, as he was probably one of the very few along with Lukaku who actually managed to test the Sevilla goal keeper. Maybe not a great shoot but still a chance that was bigger than most of what his teammates created that evening.
