But the fact that Dr. Hawking was an atheist doesn't mean that his family shared that belief.
In the last year or so of her life, my mother was severely demented, which was an enormous burden to my brother and me.
When she finally died, I didn't "rejoice" (poor choice of words, I admit), but I did have a deep feeling of relief.
