You could. Maybe not on the RFS board, but if it's on a music board: Why not?

It doesn't have to be your own opinion. You are free to post an opinion piece by someone who compares Bach and Beethoven. That would be analoguous to what the OP did: Posting an opinion piece of someone mentioning atheists and science.
While I don't necessarily agree with Aaron Freeman, I believe that the OP did nothing wrong there. It's on topic, and open for discussion.

That's more than can be said about various other threads started by various other posters here.
