If a movie clearly sucks ass then any critic giving it a largely positive rating stands out from the crowd......not in a good way. If a movie critic's opinion can't be trusted to be an honest reflection of what they actually think then they are extremely unlikely to foster a large readership and become successful.

You seem to be under the impression that because you didn’t like the movie was all that, it means that the majority of critics must have shared your opinion. It comes across as a lame excuse.

I have considered that possibility and I don't believe it to be true. There are plenty of critically lauded movies that I don't like, I don't consider all of them to be overrated.
