I agree with you about ‘Carrie.’ I meant to put that in the line about bad remakes when I was going back to add other remakes and put it in the wrong section
but ‘The Ring’ was far more successful than the original Japanese movie and got a lot of great reviews. It was one of the most popular Horror movies of the early 00s and launched Naomi Watts to the top. ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ was widely liked and breathed new life into a franchise that had been dead for a long time. It is featured on a lot of lists of best Horror remakes of all time and was one of the most successful Horror movies of the 00s which lead to more sequels and ‘The Shining’ is a matter of personal tastes but when the author who is one of the most successful authors of all time (and considered the greatest writer of the past century by many journalists) calls your movie adaption shit and an insult to his novel you have done something very wrong. I get that some people like it but as a Stephen King fan who loved the novel I can see why Stephen had a problem with it. Hopefully the ‘Doctor Sleep’ movie will be better than both the previous ‘Shining’ adaptions.
Haven't seen the Carrie remake. Loved the original. I like the It movie that just came out though the mini series was also good. I also want to see a remake of the Langoliers. While the mini series was accurate, the acting was mostly cheesy.
I liked the 2009 Children of the Corn better than the 1984 version. I have mixed feelings about the 1979 and 2004 Salem's Lot miniseries. The radio drama adaption of the BBC is superior to both.
I would love to see a remake of 'The Langoliers' too. We have the miniseries as part of a DVD double pack that came with the miniseries of 'The Stand' and were a few months ago after we re-watched 'The Stand' and I liked it and feel it could be improved on if they made a remake of it and with all the remakes of Stephen King movies that are said to be in development now like 'Pet Sematary', 'Firestarter', 'The Stand' I could see it happening one day. I would love to see a new movie of 'Needful Things' too 'cause the last one was horrible and Stephen King has called it the worst movie adapted out of all his novels and has said he wants to make it himself.
