It's you who needs some common sense, bro. You can't go around stating a movie - "did better than expected" - when what you actually mean is that it exceeded the expectations of one person who made an estimate of it's likely worldwide final gross based upon data compiled over the first few weeks of it's release. You are being misleading and inaccurate.  I don't need to state that because it was abundantly clear that I was referring to the estimates and profit margins given by Forbes. My post only referred to that one person in the first place. You simply didn't comprehend what I said, got excited and jumped the gun. I'll simplify it further. After the movie released, Forbes made predictions for its final gross which was $635 million. Based on that estimate they also estimated it would lose $50 million. However it made more than what they had expected which means the loss is less than they expected. So to answer the OP's question, based on that alone and nothing else, it lost less than $50 million.
