That's the great thing about Christianity. You can keep your culture while being a part of it only discarding the portions of it that contradict the doctrine.
I think of religion much more like an organization of like mind people who share similar goals, values, & hopes while adhering to the tenets of the organization.
A good religion has much more in common with a corporate or government structure than it does a society since it is, by its very nature, discriminatory towards those who wish to practice it or be a part of it.
That always sounds worse than it is but it is perfectly normal.
