I don't like the term "gay" as it seems to have cultural connotations, with which I don't identify. I'm homosexual, going on asexual. Yes, "gay" just refers to a particular subculture of homosexuals. Not all homosexuals are "gay". Take a guy in prison for example who takes on a male lover. I'm sure he won't be listening to Lady Gaga anytime soon. Actually, homosexual is just a sex act. It shouldn't be an identity. I wouldn't say that a prisoner who rapes or has consensual sex with another male prisoner because his choice is limited is homosexual, or even necessarily bisexual. You're only homosexual if you have a choice of either a male or female lover, and you would prefer a male lover. "Homosexual is just a sex act" seems a lot like the rhetoric that homophobic Christians use to justify denying the rights of homosexuals.
