Yes, "gay" just refers to a particular subculture of homosexuals. Not all homosexuals are "gay". Take a guy in prison for example who takes on a male lover. I'm sure he won't be listening to Lady Gaga anytime soon. Actually, homosexual is just a sex act. It shouldn't be an identity. I wouldn't say that a prisoner who rapes or has consensual sex with another male prisoner because his choice is limited is homosexual, or even necessarily bisexual. You're only homosexual if you have a choice of either a male or female lover, and you would prefer a male lover. "Homosexual is just a sex act" seems a lot like the rhetoric that homophobic Christians use to justify denying the rights of homosexuals. I gave the example of the 'straight' guy in prison who has homosexual sex to illustrate that homosexuality is a set of acts which any human being is capable of performing. I don't think your criteria is correct. It doesn't matter if you like it 100%, half like it, or merely do it to get your wad off. We create definitions for things even when we are not privy to every conscious and subconscious thought in a person's brain. If you fuck a guy, it's homosexual. And I don't care what homophobes say. They use the 'gay is a choice' canard a lot too. I believe homosexuality is a subconscious choice. I don't tailor my beliefs based on what Christian haterz say. Legally, a person's religion is a choice but it's protected against discrimination. I don't see the 'choice' issue as having any bearing on the rights of homosexuals.
