I expect they have seen the growth in interest, coverage, and attendances in the womens game the last few years, and now want a piece of the action as the game is being restructured. A bit galling that they have the financial clout to buy themselves straight in to the 2nd tier though. They should be made to play their way through the leagues. Yeah a bit unfair, especially as they are such latecomers, but I suppose the bigger picture is it will help bring more interest to the women's game. Phil Neville says Man United are working to be pioneers. But I think that boat might have already sailed.
