Not sure what they are going to pioneer? The womens game is already taking off without them. Lewes FC (and others) already pay their mens and womens teams equally. Teams like Chelsea now launch their mens and womens kits in the same photo-shoots side by side. Arsenal and Man City shops now stock named womens team shirts alongside the mens shirt in their club shops. I don't think there is much they can claim to be pioneering. Pioneers of the first ever Man United women's team. Pioneers of coming in out of nowhere with shed loads of money, hoovering up the best players money can buy, and basically buying your way straight to the top. I'm all for them coming in. Bit late to the party, but hey it can only help grow the game with another big name joining in. They should start lower down though. Not right at the bottom, but maybe a couple of steps below the new Womens Super Leagues? With some kind of financial fair play restriction in place so that they can't just buy their way straight to the top tier, but have to earn it. Doesn't seem fair on all the established teams that have been playing their way up through the leagues for years, to now find themselves not going up to the top tiers because Man United come along and go straight there.
