My first impression would be that one of your add-ons may be blocking websites or parts of websites that some of the images linked in the thread are posted on. You could try turning all of your blocker addons off and seeing if your viewing troubles are resolved. If so, the next step would be to add each blocker back individually until the problem recurs, at which point you'll be able to see which addon is causing the trouble. Another approach would be to try viewing the thread with Safari with no blockers turned on, or a fresh install of Firefox that has no addons/blockers installed.
