Is it still good does it hold up after all this time? Is it a camp classic? I don't like most horror, so I can't comment too much. But I don't think it's worth seeing though. Is it a scary film or comedy? I could never tell. 4. Is it scary or a comedy? It's both. It starts out being (or sttempting to be) scary. But when the filmmakers assembled the film around halfway through filming, they realized that the film was more funny than scary. So then they start pushing the humor more towards the end. Source? I don't recall any intentional comedy in The Evil Dead at all. It's a straight up horror film. Maybe thee cheesy outdated effects make it feel more comedic. It was with Evil Dead 2 where they brought in the comedy.
