I personally regard it as the single greatest horror film of the 1980s. And make no mistake about it - this is a very 80s film. It's extremely violent and gory, but has an ever-so-subtle camp quality to it as well. It's very much a horror flick, however, unlike the 1987 sequel.
I'd strongly recommend it for anyone interested in exploring classic (as in 1970s/1980s) horror.
