Signs got fairly good reviews when it came out and now, after audiences and critics turned on Shyamalan after The Village and The Happening, is mocked relentlessly for plot flaws. I still think it’s superb—with the original Body Snatchers, it’s probably my favorite alien invasion flick, but it’s so different from the rest of the genre that it may not even warrant a spot here. When "Signs" came out in theaters I was blown away, you felt for Mel Gibson's character, a man who lost his faith and was filled with resentment. And regarding the "it all has a meaning" ending.... while it wasn't perfect I think it worked quite well.
