in short... either Connery or Craig overall in terms of the Bond movies.
a bit more details...
based on all around presence in combination of the quality of the Bond movies it's definitely between Connery and Craig for me as I think in terms of straight up presence with the whole suave/tough balance then I would favor Connery as while I think Craig is solid at the toughness angle, arguably better than Connery, I think Connery comfortably wins in the suave dept as he's naturally more suave as it's more obvious about his general presence. Connery has more of a natural balance between the two so when I put aside Bond movie quality and look at straight up tough/suave combo Connery wins but factoring in Bond movie quality ill favor Craig as each have three movies amongst My Favorite Movies in general, which are...
1.Skyfall (2012) - 9/10 (Craig)
2.Casino Royale (2006) (Craig)
3.Goldfinger (1964) - 7.5-8/10 (Connery)
4.Spectre (2015) (Craig)
5.From Russia with Love (1963) - 7-7.5/10 (Connery)
6.Licence to Kill (1989) - 7/10
7.Dr. No (1962) (Connery)
so as you can see, Craig tops Connery in overall Bond movie quality as the #1/2 of Craig's above are within my Top 26 movies in general where as my #3/4 Bond movies are within my Top 105 movies in general and #5 would be not much outside of my Top 105 movies with the #7 spot being within my Top 186 movies. all are amongst My Favorite Movies in general which contains 186 movies currently out of the 2,150+ total movies I have seen.
Based on Bond movie quality overall...
1.Craig
2.Connery
3.Dalton
4.Moore
5.Lazenby (while I put him higher than Brosnan, because it's based on Bond movie quality, ill say this... while I like his Bond movie, his main problem is that he does not excel at being suave or tough in his overall presence which all of the other Bond actors do at least one of those two things well which is why he's my least favorite as Bond straight up)
6.Brosnan (while I used to consider his Bond movies amongst the better ones, I no longer like any of his Bond movies. but I will say he does suave really well as strictly in terms of suaveness amongst the Bond actors I think he's arguably #1, but definitely no lower than the Top 2 as I think Connery/Brosnan are pretty much the cream of the crop in terms of suaveness amongst the Bond actors where as Craig/Dalton are more brute force as being suave does not come as naturally to them and, like I basically mentioned above, Lazenby does neither of these two key areas well(even though not bad). but with that said... I think Brosnan is the least convincing as tough out of all of the actors but it's easier to overlook because of his natural charisma etc on screen)
but in terms of the whole tough/suave thing I think each Bond actor boils down to this...
-Craig (tough. he's the most similar to Dalton in that they do tough better than suave, but can be suave enough when that's needed)
-Brosnan (suave. he excels at being suave but when it comes to toughness he's arguably THE worst of all of the Bond actors)
-Dalton (tough. (see Craig thoughts))
-Moore (suave. but ill say since Brosnan is most similar to him, ill say that Moore has Brosnan beat in the tough dept)
-Lazenby (does neither suave/tough well. but he's okay-ish at both as ill give em at least that much.)
-Connery (does suave and tough well, but does suave better than tough)
p.s. but I will say outside of the Bond movies that Brosnan is easily my #1 because of The Thomas Crown Affair(9/10)/The Matador(8/10)/Some Kind of Beautiful(6.5-7/10) as none of the other Bond actors can touch him outside of the Bond movies when looking at movie quality from what I have seen.
