I don't think George Lucas is all that creative to be honest. He did well with Star Wars and Indiana Jones but that was really it. Yes, he could have done a lot more, he could have used his money to fund up and coming directors and screen writers etc But he seemed more interested in re-doing Star Wars films and pumping out sub standard prequels. Although there was a time he was a risk taker I don't think that lasted for very long once he achieved his mega success. All he did? You mean all he did was 2 of the greatest movie franchises of all-time ... and that's not enough??? The movie industry is better because of George Lucas ... very few people can say that. Le's be serious here, neither are "great" franchises, and science fiction would have been just fine under the guiding hands of Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick until James Cameron came along to add layers of Velveeta to the genre in the mid-80s. You never see a list like, "The Top 100 Science Fiction Films of All Time" and see Star Wars at the top of the list. You see Bladerunner, Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, Moon... But never Star Wars. Because it's a kid's franchise, with candy-colored weapons and antagonists with names like "General Grievous."
