All he did? You mean all he did was 2 of the greatest movie franchises of all-time ... and that's not enough??? The movie industry is better because of George Lucas ... very few people can say that. Le's be serious here, neither are "great" franchises, and science fiction would have been just fine under the guiding hands of Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick until James Cameron came along to add layers of Velveeta to the genre in the mid-80s. You never see a list like, "The Top 100 Science Fiction Films of All Time" and see Star Wars at the top of the list. You see Bladerunner, Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, Moon...But never Star Wars. Because it's a kid's franchise, with candy-colored weapons and antagonists with names like "General Grievous." AFI TOP 10 SCI-FI 1 2001: A Space Odyssey 2 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope3 E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial 4 A Clockwork Orange 5 The Day the Earth Stood Still 6 Blade Runner 7 Alien 8 Terminator 2: Judgment Day 9 Invasion of the Body Snatchers 10 Back to the Future
