I guess I have my answer then. I have heard about people who are either so brainwashed and/or dumb that they don't accept the science of evolution butt this is out there, to actually have someone who actually does this, in real life.

There is no-one in my circles of educated people who come anywhere close to being Creationists because it is so backward, even though I have many Christian friends. I guess I had to come on an American based message board to find the phenomenon, in all its mindless ignorant glory, or is Cody a Brit? I know Arlon is from the US.

The bigger question, of course is why they are here typing on modern computer technology, driving in cars and watching movies and TV with such acceptance of science in other areas and yet they illogically dismiss the science of evolution.

About 1/3 of Americans reject evolution completely. It's a sad but true figure. Though evolution is taught in schools, most kids raised in fundamentalist Christian homes are exposed to The Bible long before evolution and told The Bible is true, and many parents will even tell kids evolution is wrong before they even encounter it in schools. That was certainly true in my case, so by the time I read about evolution in school I just assumed it was false because my parents said so. Luckily I eventually learned to think for myself.

FWIW, I'm not sure if Arlon actually rejects evolution as opposed to abiogenesis. He certainly ignorantly conflates the two.

Americans are happy to accept science so long as it doesn't conflict with their beliefs. I've often said the world would be a different place if people had to choose to follow either religion or science and couldn't have their cake and eat it too. While I know there are many areas where they don't conflict/are compatible, they certainly aren't when it comes to claims about how reality functions (or used to function as the case may be).
