One evening in 2004 I made the mistake of watching one of those Iraqi beheading videos that were going the rounds on the internet. It disturbed me profoundly and I couldn't sleep well. My bed was in a small room on the bottom floor--in the back of a house. There was a door to the secluded backyard right next to my room.
Well, it's after 1 am, when suddenly the door knob to the back door starts rattling. I heard voices, the door knob was tried a couple of times. Then it stopped.
No more sleep for me that night!
